When asked about why ABAP Certification has been important to him over the past 30 years, Dr. Nover responded:
"Board certification in Adolescent & Young Adult Psychiatry has contributed to my professional success and ability to serve a population I love. Having been in the first group of examinees, my entire thirty-three year career has included treatment of adolescents and transition age youth. This credential has helped me gain work in juvenile justice, school consultation, residential treatment, and in building a practice working with my favorite patient population. Furthermore, ongoing re-certification gives me confidence that I am meeting the standards of the Board. I was honored to be asked to serve on the board for the past two years to ensure the high standards of my colleagues and to add legitimacy to this specialty".
In addition to his busy clinical practice in the Philadelphia area, Dr. Nover has offered his services as a volunteer in many settings and has been an active Life Member of The American Society for Adolescent Psychiatry (ASAP) as well as The American Psychiatric Association. In 2021 Dr. Nover was the receipient of the American Society for Adolescent Psychiatry's prestigious Herman Staples Distinguished Service Award in recognition of his many contributions to the health of adolescents and young adults as well as to ASAP and ABAP.
